Exploring digital government:

Global teaching case study webinars

Learn how to teach digital-era government through real-world case studies

In this webinar series, hosted by Teaching Public Service in the Digital Age, the authors of a selection of global teaching cases will share how they use their cases to teach the realities and challenges of digital-era government. Each session will demonstrate how these cases illustrate core dilemmas in digital-era public service and provide instructors with tools for teaching them.

Why teaching through case studies matters

Anchor theory in global real-world examples:

Case studies connect digital-era public service concepts - such as system design, data ethics, and service delivery - to vivid, real-world contexts drawn from diverse countries and governance settings.

Train problem-solving and critical thinking:

Students grapple with challenges that public servants actually face worldwide, fostering deeper understanding, structured debate, and decision-making practice.

Bridge the skills gap in digital-era public service:

Institutions often lack sufficient training on governance in the digital age; cases help fill that space and inspire modern pedagogies.

  • A live walkthrough: Each session is led by the case author, who will introduce the context, stakeholders, dilemmas, and decisions at the heart of their case.

  • Teaching strategies: Practical guidance on using the case in the classroom.

  • Live Q&A: An opportunity to ask the author questions and discuss how to adapt the case for your own context.

This webinar series is designed for:

  • University educators and lecturers in public administration, policy, and related fields who want to integrate real-world cases into their digital government teaching.

  • Those who teach in public service academies and similar training institutions, supporting the development of current and future public servants.

  • Public service practitioners who want to develop critical thinking for real-world challenges.

It will also be especially valuable for those already teaching, or who would like to teach the Teaching Public Service in the Digital Age syllabus, as the cases align closely with its units and provide practical, ready-to-use materials to complement them.
